Defective Gas Pedal KIA Recall
KIA Motors has announced a gas pedal KIA recall of approximately 208,858 units because of problems in the accelerator pedal. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) vehicles are being recalled due to an issue with a section of the accelerator pedal that may bend and fracture. This malfunction could increase the possibility of a traffic accident. The Korean manufacturer has not reported any car accidents or injured drivers related to the manufacturing defect.
Vehicles Affected by Recall
According to safercar.gov, the potential number of gas pedal KIA recall units affected by the defect amounts to 208, 858. These vehicles were manufactured during the period of July 21, 2013 to January 8, 2015
Get Up-to-Date Recall News
Kia will notify owners of affected vehicles when authorized dealers can properly inspect gas pedals. Dealers will rectify the defect by adding a supporting rubber underneath the gas pedal. Repairs will be performed at no cost to the owners of the recalled vehicles. The recall is scheduled to start on March 24, 2015.
