Kia Soul Accelerator Pedal Recall

Kia Motors America is recalling 208,858 Kia Soul vehicles model years 2014-2015. The production dates of the affected vehicles are between July 21, 2013 – January 8, 2015. The recall is being issued because part of the accelerator is unsupported, causing the pedal to potentially bend or fracture with large amounts of pressure while the vehicle is stationary. If the pedal bends or fractures, drivers may have problems with acceleration, leading to an increased risk of an accident.

Kia became aware of the problem after multiple accelerator pedal replacement warranty claims were filed. After investigation the warranty claims, accelerator pedals were identified as the problem. There have not been any customer complaints or reports of accidents.
