Toyota Tundra Recall for Inaccurate Tire PressureJuly 27th, 2015 by 1-800-THE-LAW2
Toyota Tundra Recall for Inaccurate Tire Pressure
Toyota voluntarily recalled approximately 144 units of its 2015 Toyota Tundra model. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Toyota Tundra recall is due to inaccurate tire pressure information stated on the vehicle’s tire placard. Consequently, the affected vehicles’ tire pressure placard fails to comply with the safety requirements prescribed by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110.
Toyota Tundra Recall: Affected Vehicles
The recall affects vehicles appropriated by Southeast Toyota Distributors manufactured between March and April of 2015. The vehicles in question are equipped with Nitto Terra Grappler G@ 275-60R20 116S XL tires.
If drivers of the affected vehicles inflate the tires according to the inaccurate information on the tire placard located on the vehicle, the tires may be underinflated, thus, increasing the risk of tire failure. This defect escalates the risk of a crash or an accident, endangering the life of the driver, other motorists or pedestrians.
Measures Taken to Remedy Recalled Vehicles
The manufacturer, Southeast Toyota (SET) Distributors, announced to the NHTSA that it will notify the owners of the recalled vehicles, and authorize dealers to replace the defective tire pressure placard with the correct information. The Toyota Tundra recall will begin on July 14, 2015. Additionally, owners of vehicles affected by the Toyota Tundra recall should frequently visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website to stay up to date with the latest news regarding the recall. Owners of the affected vehicles can also contact the SET Customer Service hotline at 1-866-405-4226, using the unique recall identification number assigned by the manufacturer: SET 15C.
