During this same period, the crime rate per 1000 population increased from 16.61 to 12.56. In terms of vehicle collisions, the Office of Traffic Safety reports for 2013 reveal a total of 3,092 total fatal and injury events. Of those, 72 were motorcycle-related, 173 involved pedestrians, 210 involved bicyclists, and 154 were hit and run.
