Mitsubishi Eclipse Recall for Brake CorrosionJuly 13th, 2015 by 1-800-THE-LAW2
Mitsubishi Eclipse Recall Due to Brake Corrosion
Mitsubishi voluntarily announced a recall of approximately 74,836 units of its Eclipse model manufactured from April 20, 2005 through February 13, 2009. The Eclipse Spyder, manufactured between December 23, 2005 and February 13, 2009, is also included in this recall. The Mitsubishi Eclipse recall arose from corrosion within the anti-lock brake system (ABS) unit. Consequently, the corrosion may seize one or more of the internal valves whereby harsh braking requiring use of the ABS can reduce braking ability.
Brake Corrosion Could Increase the Risk of an Auto Accident
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the reduced braking performance caused by the anti-lock brake system (ABS) corrosion can increase the risk of a collision or accident, putting the life of the driver, other motorists and/or pedestrians in danger.
